Description
The crushed grapes are left in contact with their skins for two days with the occasional pumping over and wild fermentation was allowed to start. The must was then fortified with 96% spirit to stop fermetation whilst the wine still had 250 grams of residual sugar. Heady, rich and concentrated with spice, stone fruits and amazingly long finish. Enjoy this fabulous wine with toffee or fruit based desserts, or stick some away for it to develop further.
The Liberator Wines are small parcel releases that have been sourced for their interest and quality. This release is a true bargain and piece of history. First planted in the early 1980’s the vineyard was kept nourished by pumping water out of the Gamka river, which helped the vines survive in the deep red soils. The Muscat grapes grown here produced wonderfully concentrated wines perfect for the production of amazing dessert wines. Sadly many years of drought have caused the river to run dry and the clay soil that was responsible for the production of such concentrated grapes became so dry and hard that it cracked the roots of the vines making this the last vintage that they produced – a true swan song.
