Description

The Microcosmico by Bodegas Frontonio shows a pale ruby colour, with notes of redcurrant and strawberry over mineral and white pepper .

Bodegas Frontonio has emerged as one of the most refreshing wine ventures in Aragón, both in terms of recovering old vines and driving Garnacha`s renaissance in the area. The vineyards are found at over 400 meters above sea level near Épila, on the left bank of the river Jalón, where clay-limestone soils prevail. At Frontonio they work with sustainably cultivated, dry-farmed bush vines in traditional mountain vineyards. The wines are crafted in small quantities and aged in historic caves for 12 months.

2022/23 Mercurey Rouge 1er Cru, Domaine Meunier

Pinot Noir

The grapes for this wine are hand harvested from 2 parcels in the heart of Mercurey where the soil is clay and limestone. They spend 10-15 days fermenting in the tank before being put into French oak barrels, 30% of which are new.  The wine then spends 12 months in barrel before being blended and bottled.

Rhone Blend

The Un Bon Canon Cotes du Rhone hits the spot every time with it's fruit forward blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 5% Cinsault and 5% Mouvedre which is fermented in concrete tanks.  The vineyards lie in the southern part of the region on a dried up river bed strewn with heat retaining pebbles.  The hot summer sun ensures that the wine is bold and fruity with raspberry and dark fruits and hints of garrigue/herbal undergrowth.

2018 Brunello di Montalcino Pieve Santa Restituta, Gaja, DOCG

Sangiovese

Gaja's Brunello di Montalcino shows notes of juniper berries, liquorice and sweet wood on the nose. It has a very clear expression of sweet and ripe fruit, opening on the palate, with notes of spice and earthy aromatic herbs. This wine has remarkable texture, mouth-filling fruit and a very good length.
