Description
The Parcellaires de Saulx was created in 2017 in Meursault on the site of an historic property. They work with the finest growers throughout Burgundy to select the very best grapes possible which they vinify and age in their 1500 square metres of cellars. The idea is to produce the truest expression of terroir possible and work predominantly with growers who take an organic and biodynamic approach to vineyard management. The results are a truly stunning string of releases of micro-parcels. We are lucky enough to grab some whilst they are available.
The Morgeot vineyard derives it’s name from the Gallic word ‘Morga’, meaning border or frontier, and lies on the border of the Côte d’Or and Sâone-et-Loire départments. The soils here are predominantly made of clay and limestone.
This superb offering from the prestigious Les Parcellaires de Saulx is simply stunning. Delicate and subtle on the nose with notes of honey, vanilla, almond and fresh hazelnuts alongside floral hints. The palate is rich with notes of hawthorn, honey and pear with slight spicy and peppery notes leading to the saline finish.

This tiny 6.5 hectare domaine in the Loire was started by Emile Balland in 1999. The Ballands have been making wines in the Loire since 1650 and his father was instrumental in achieving recognition for the young AOC Coteaux du Giennois in the 1980s.The La Pente is a first class Sancerre and the pinnacle of Emile' production. It comes from vines are grown on Emile's finest sites in the limestone soil of Beauregard, and he only uses the first juice from the pressing is used. After a careful fermentation, the wine is matured for large barrels for 18 months to develop complexityWonderful, textured Sancerre showing restrained tropical fruits, fine minerality and a wonderful length on the finish.
