Description
The Chateau Montelena Napa Valley Cabernet spends 16 months in a mixture of French and Eastern European oak, 26% of which was new. The wine is a wonderful dark garnet in the glass. The enticing nose has plenty of aromatic intensity making it irresistible, with fresh berries and dried cherries combining with bergamot, lavender, mint and sage in perfect harmony.
The palate is fresh and dynamic, with cranberry, cola, and raspberry jam. The acidity is laser focused, the spine pulling the layers of flavour into harmony with the wine’s supple, yet dense, structure. The tannins are supportive and elevate rather than overwhelm the balance of texture, ripeness, and vineyard character.
91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot
