We are massive fans of the wines from Domaine La Colombette. It all began in 1890 when Louis Pugibet a blacksmith, fell in love with a winemaker and she gave him his first hectare as a gift for the marriage. Four generations later Francois and son Vincent work side by side creating exciting wines. Colombette are pioneers in the region and are at the forefront of exploring and developing new techniques with disease resistant grape varieties as well as continuing to produce outstanding wines from known varieties. They produce a wide range of styles and whilst all teh wines are distinctive they posess a common thread of having restrained alcohol levels without compromising on fruit or body.
This delightful red made from Lledoner Pelut, also known as a ‘hairy’ grape variety, not dissimilar to Grenache. Vibrant fruit, lovely balance and a seductive, creamy texture.

2023 Julienas ‘Bois de la Salle’, Cave Julienas-Chaintre

The grapes for this medium weight, fruit led Julienas are hand harvested and left in tank for 10 days to macerate in order to optimise the colour and aroma of the wine. Fermentation takes place at a warm 27/28 degrees centigrade and maturation follows until March when the wine is bottled.An intense, purple colour. Fruity aromas dominated by fragrant raspberry, blackberry and blueberry. Round, supple and rich yet balanced by a lingering freshness on the finish.

The Ca Marcanda Promis is a complex wine with an undeniable elegance. The nose is rich and concentrated, with blueberry, liquorice and cocoa hints. It starts fresh and then develops balsamic notes and scents of graphite, before becoming more mellow in character with a rhubarb and menthol note. The palate is voluminous with fine-grained and silky tannins on the finish.
