Description
The Chateau Grandis vines are grown on gravelly clay and limestone soils and are planted with 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Harvesting is done entirely by hand to maintain the quality of the fruit. The grapes are fermented in tank and transferred to barrel where the wine is aged for 16 months in French oak barrels before being bottled at the Château.
Grandis has been a Cru Bourgeois property since the 1930’s and has maintained it’s status ever since by producing fabulous quality, classic wines. Beautifully balanced cigar box and spice alongside dark fruits and finely balanced tannins.
Château Grandis became a family run estate in 1857 and the vineyards are made up of a modest 10 hectares which enables the family to maintain the strictest high standards both in the vineyard and the cellar. In 2005 Brice Vergez took over the running of the estate and has continued to practice the techniques of hand harvesting, hand pruning and racking from barrel to barrel. He also prefers ploughing between the rows of vines rather than the systematic use of herbicides, promoting soil health wherever possible.

2018 Brunello di Montalcino Pieve Santa Restituta, Gaja, DOCG
Sangiovese
Gaja's Brunello di Montalcino shows notes of juniper berries, liquorice and sweet wood on the nose. It has a very clear expression of sweet and ripe fruit, opening on the palate, with notes of spice and earthy aromatic herbs. This wine has remarkable texture, mouth-filling fruit and a very good length.

2022 Gonzo Combat Rouge, Vandal Wine Company
Red Blend
The Gonzo Combat Rouge is a rather unusual field blend of Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Viognier which are co-fermented with whole bunch fermentation. The results is a beautifully supple yet plush and ripe red wine with sweet, spicy raspberry and cherry fruit. We've found it drinks best slightly chilled on a warm evening.

Andrew Harries –
Lacks a soft finesse, flavours muted, but pleasant enough with fillet steak. Not a heavy or tannic palate, either. Maybe a few more years bottle age will soften, but possibly lose more subtle flavours.
