Description
The 2010 Rioja Gran Reserva, Martinez lacuesta is a mid-weight, smooth and silky with concentrated red frutis, spice and beautifully integrated tannins. This is drinking beautifully, especially after a decent decant, but further ageing will be rewarded. Complex yet elegant, this Gran Reserva has spent 36 months in new and nearly new american oak and a further 36 months in bottle prior to release.
Martinez Lacuesta are one of the oldest registered brands in Rioja, pre-dating the creation of the Rioja designation itself. The wines are predominantly made from Tempranillo grown high in Rioja Alta to the West of Haro, with smatterings of Mazuelo, Graciano and Garnacha. Over the last 20 years significant investment has been made to allow Martinez Lacuesta to own far more of their vineyards and a new winery and cellar was opened in 2015.

2015 amarone della valpolicella ‘terre san zeno’, corteforte
Corvina
A classic Amarone della Valpolicella, the Terre di San Zeno from Corteforte is a wonderfully decadent and sophisticated wine. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and the wine is then aged in steel for a further 24 - 36 months before ageing in large French oak and then smaller French oak barrels for 12 months in each. The wine is then bottled and released following an additional 12 month period in bottle. Although approachable when released, this tremendous Amarone will continue to develop in bottle for a good decade following release.

The 'Les Charmes' is one of the favoured 'lieu-dits' of Morgon and winemaking is traditional, with hand harvested fruit fermented carefully in the semi-carbonic maceration method with half being whole bunches and half de-stemmed fruit. Maturation is in a mixture of vat and cask and sulphur addition low.
