Description
Alternatively known amongst the staff as ‘The one that I want’, this fabulous case contains six different bottles of wines which are showing nicely now but will reward further cellaring. This mixed case of hand picked red and white wines is a great gift or simply something to treat yourself with. It contains 1 bottle each of the following:
’19 Block Series Semillon, Bouchon Wines, Maule Valley – 80 year old vines that are hand picked from two select, dry farmed plots on ancient granite soils. Zingy and fresh now but will fill out nicely over the next 3 – 8 years.
’22 Big Fine Girl Riesling, Jeanneret Wines, Clare Valley – From our favourite Clare valley winery, the ‘BFG’ Riesling has beautiful purity of fruit and is quite stunning now, although further cellaring won’t hurt it at all.
’21 Thalassitis Assyrtiko, Gaia Wines, Santorini – Unbelievable concentration yet superb acidity and drinkability. The stunning Assyrtiko wines of Santorini are considered the pinnacle of Greek white wine making and combine power and elegance in equal measure. Stash this away for a little longer…if you can!
’19 Chateau La Gorce, Cru Bourgeois Medoc – A very classic Cru Bourgeois from a terrific vintage. The 2019’s seem to show very well in their youth but are also very age-worthy so you needn’t be in a hurry to tuck into this lovely claret.
’20 Valpolicella Ripasso Pojega, Rizzardi – With 10% Amarone in the blend this fabulous Ripasso has a beautiful depth and concentration of dark and red fruits coupled with a beautiful lifted freshness. Silky and almost irresistible now, we can’t wait to see how this indulgent red develops in years to come.
’12 Rioja Reserva Hinia, Bodegas Martinez Lacuesta – Everything you would want in a classic Rioja Reserva and a little bit more! Complex, with a beautiful balance of fruit, oak and spice kept fresh with a beautiful vein of acidity running from start to finish. As with most Rioja’s this is approachable on release but the freshness hints at longevity and ageability that comes with a great vintage.
