Chile

The popularity of the wines of Chile in the UK is undeniable. Their reputation has largely been built on the success of Chilean Merlot, and also Carmenere. More and more Chilean winemakers and grape growers, both native and foreign, are discovering the pristine vineyard locations and exploring the opportunity to make fabulous wine.  In addition to wonderful Carmenere, we are seeing a resurgence in wines made from Pais, the first grape variety to be planted in Chile. There are also some fascinating blends and single vineyard wines hitting the shelves making Chile an exciting wine producing country. This long, thin country has a wide variety of different climates and soils ideal for grape growing. Limari in the north down to Itata and Bio-Bio in the south via Aconcagua, Maule and Casblanca. There’s lots to be cheerful about when exploring the wines of Chile.
