Description

The 2023 Tierhoek Chardonnay is made in collaboration with Cape superstar winemaker Chris Williams, and marks the resurrection of this special wine growing estate.  Produced from 20 year old vines that are starting to show their true potential, this fabulous Chardonnay is fermented in a mixture of seasoned French oak and terracotta eggs, before being transferred into barrel and amphora for ageing.  At the time of writing, this is a one off collaboration, (with the 2024 being made at Hamilton Russell), and therefore destined to become a piece of history and a collectors item.  The wine itself displays the quality of the fruit obtained from these mountain vineyards and also the winemaking style of Chris Williams, whose stints at Delaire, Meerlust and other notable wineries, has earned him an enviable reputation as one of the Cape’s finest winemakers.

Still young, but showing nicely now, this beautiful wine will continue to age gracefully for years and we can only urge you to grab some whilst it’s available.

2022 Gruner Veltliner Fels Am, Anton Waldschutz

Gruner Veltliner

The Fels Am from Anton Waldschutz is a fuller expression of Gruner Veltliner with some added depth and texture due to 6 months ageing on lees.  There's so much to excite here, with a nose of exotic fruits, spice and dried herbs.  The palate is full, round and rich yet doesn't lack any of the spiciness one would expect from the grape.  This is delicious now but could age gracefully for years to come.

2022 Vouvray Cuvee Silex, Domaine des Aubuisieres, AC Vouvray

Chenin Blanc

Produced from several vineyards with Silex (flint) soils, this delicious Vouvray is pale yellow with a very reserved nose. The palate is dominated by minerals, with citrus, apple and lemon peel fruit. Floral aromas balance out the minerality with some lovely balanced acidity coming through on the finish.

District 7 Chardonnay.JPG

2022 Scheid District 7 Chardonnay, Monterey, California

Chardonnay

Superb value, the Scheid District 7 Chardonnay comes from a vineyard at Greenfeld where the morning fog lingers to protect the vines from the heat of the sun. The aromas are fresh and extroverted with notes of yellow apple, pear and citrus, enhanced by hints of coconut, vanilla and toasty oak. The medium-bodied palate is soft and balanced with bright fruit, hints of butter and a lingering subtle oak finish.

Furmint

The Szepsy family has been producing Tokaj wines since the 1500s, with the aim of producing the best grapespossible without compromise.
