Sauvignon Blanc

The Kloovenburg Sauvignon was an instant hit here at The Dorset Wine Company.  We loved the freshness that lept from the glass but as the wine developed it also shows a great deal of elegance.  There's a restrained mix of citrus, gooseberry and tropical fruits and whilst it's a very expressive wine it's never overly pungent.  The finish is crisp and elegant.

2024 Goldmine White, Boekenhoutskloof, WO Western Cape

White Blend

The Goldmine White is the long awaited partner to The Chocolate Block, Boekenhoutskloof iconic red wine.  The blend of Swartland Chenin along with Chardonnay, Semillon and Viognier from other regions in the Cape fermented in a mixture of french oak, concrete eggs and clay amphora.  This lovely, textured white shows plenty of stony/savoury notes with herbal aromas and rich yet clean pear and citrus fruit.

The Lomond Estate SSV is a delicious blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Viognier that is wonderfully refreshing and elegant.  The nose boasts aromas of gooseberry and tropical fruit which follow through to a layered palate with citrus and hints of spice. This is a beautifully balanced blend with each grape variety evident yet perfectly knit. Zesty and fresh with a mouthwatering finish, this is a wonderful alternative to the fabulous Chenin Blanc led blends from South Africa.

2022/23 Eight Feet White, Kloovenburg, Swartland

White Blend

The Eight Feet White from Kloovenburg has an elegant nose with a mixture of white flowers, citrus and spice which leads to a generous, richly textured palate and fine, balanced finish.  This wonderful white is a blend of hand picked Chenin, Verdelho, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne harvested at different times to enable the final blend to have a balance of freshness, complexity and vitality.  Made with free run juice the fermentation process is natural, often taking up to 3 months.  The wine spends 10 months on it's fine lees in barrel with regular battonage (to promote texture), before final blending and bottling.  The absence of malolactic fermentation means that the wine retains freshness and acidity despite it's time in barrel.
