Description

The Flametree Chardonnay is beautifully balanced, displaying power and elegance in equal measure, plenty of vibrant citrus and stone fruit flavours and supportive oak courtesy of 9 months barrel ageing.  This is delicious now but will continue to develop for a couple of years.

Flametree Wines is located on the picturesque shores of Geographe Bay in Western Australia, entry point to the renowned Margaret River wine region. The Towner family built their state of the art winery in 2007 which helps demonstrate the Company’s unwavering commitment to excellence.  Its design ensures minimal fruit handling and significant investment has been made in equipment and technology that retains the integrity and quality of fruit. Flametree draws on the strengths of the region by growing and sourcing fruit from mature vineyards in the best sub-regions, crafting wines that exhibit structure, perfume and elegance

The previous vintage of this wine was a Decanter Magazine Wine of the Year in 2021 so it had big boots to fill!  We were delighted to see that the 2020 vintage didn’t disappoint us when it landed.

2021/22 Puligny Montrachet, Domaine Meunier

Chardonnay

The grapes for this approachable Puligny are hand harvested and undergo a gentle pressing.  The juice is then left to settle for a few days then put into French oak barrels, 30% of which are new. Indigenous yeasts are used for fermentation and the wine spends 12 months in barrel before being blended and bottled.  Great persistence in the mouth, this wine has a wonderful freshness to it and can be enjoyed in it's youth.
