The Flametree Chardonnay is beautifully balanced, displaying power and elegance in equal measure, plenty of vibrant citrus and stone fruit flavours and supportive oak courtesy of 9 months barrel ageing. This is delicious now but will continue to develop for a couple of years.
Flametree Wines is located on the picturesque shores of Geographe Bay in Western Australia, entry point to the renowned Margaret River wine region. The Towner family built their state of the art winery in 2007 which helps demonstrate the Company’s unwavering commitment to excellence. Its design ensures minimal fruit handling and significant investment has been made in equipment and technology that retains the integrity and quality of fruit. The previous vintage of this wine was a Decanter Magazine Wine of the Year in 2021 so it had big boots to fill! We were delighted to see that the 2020 vintage didn’t disappoint us when it landed.

Following many ultra-successful vintage releases, the Langham Blanc de Blancs has switched to a non vintage blend following the 2018 vintage. Made with 100% Chardonnay, 90% of which is from the 2020 vintage, and aged on the lees for three years, this is an energetic and wonderfully focussed Blanc de Blancs. The nose displays a tense balance between ripe green apple and conference pear with notes of white flowers and intense graphite minerality. The De Bortoli Accomplice Chardonnay is a light straw colour with lifted aromas of ripe peach and nectarine complemented with a decent lick of vanilla oak. The palate is soft and creamy and exhibits ripe stone fruits. Integrated oak and a gentle acid nuance for a very long finish.
