Description
The Weissburgunder Fels Reserve from Waldschutz is 100% Pinot Blanc and an absolute delight to drink. Unoaked yet with a decent degree of richness, the wine has floral notes to the nose, a rounded palate that balances textured fruit with richer notes of caramel and hazlenuts. The finish is long and impeccably balanced. This accomplished white is delicious now but has great ageing potential.
The Waldschutz family have been grape growers in Kamptal since 1849 and winemakers since 1912. With this pedigree it’s easy to understand that their focus is on family, tradition and experience.
In 1992 things evolved further, when Anton, 5th generation of Waldschütz married Elfriede from a winery in the neighbouring Wagram region. They saw this as a great opportunity to make wines from two regions in one winery. Today their son, the charming and charismatic Ralph, a 6th generation Waldschütz, is very much the driving force of the winery.
They now have 18 hectares of vineyards which are their pride and joy. Despite their success and reputation, Waldschutz don’t aim to expand any further, and would rather continue to be hands on winegrowers/winemakers and keep improving in quality while showcasing their uniqueness of their fantastic mineral terroir!

Chenin Blanc
The Carte d'Or Coteaux du Layon from Baumard has a very attractive honeyed nose, with lifted yellow fruits and more golden tropical elements such as mango, guava and pineapple. It has a particularly tropical character and a very fresh feel on the palate, with steely minerality and a zippy background acidity giving invigorating tartness to keep the wine luscious and buoyant. The rounded, approachable finish has good length.
