Description
The Introvert Chardonnay is made with a mix of Russian River (60%) and Napa Valley (40%) grapes. The wine goes through full malolactic fermentation and sees up to 30% new oak, the remainder being a mix of old and neutral barrels. The result is an incredibly easy drinking Chardonnay that is creamy and rounded with ripe stone fruit characters and balanced fresh acidity.

Made with 100% Chardonnay, 90% of which is from the 2020 vintage, and aged on the lees for three years, this is an energetic and wonderfully focussed Blanc de Blancs. The nose displays a tense balance between ripe green apple and conference pear with notes of white flowers and intense graphite minerality. The palate is delicate yet weighty in texture, with soft ripe pear, honeydew melon and white grapefruit acidity, finishing with a trademark saline nuttiness.

Superb value, the Scheid District 7 Chardonnay comes from a vineyard at Greenfeld where the morning fog lingers to protect the vines from the heat of the sun. The aromas are fresh and extroverted with notes of yellow apple, pear and citrus, enhanced by hints of coconut, vanilla and toasty oak. The medium-bodied palate is soft and balanced with bright fruit, hints of butter and a lingering subtle oak finish.

The grapes for the Verum Chardonnay are cool fermented for 15 days, 10% in American Oak and the remainder in stainless steel, before undergoing a further 6 month period in tank prior to bottling. The nose has subtle toast and vanilla with lovely integrated tropical fruit characters. On the palate the wine exhibits richness but also depth and balance. The diligent use of oak supports rather than dominates the stone and orchard fruit, with the refreshing acidity complimenting the cool climate style. In a nutshell, extremely enjoyable!
