The Fattoria le Pupille Morellino di Scansano Riserva has a seductive nose packed with perfumed, sweet dark fruits and fresh herbal notes. The medium to full-bodied palate is generous and mouthfilling with finely integrated, ripe tannins. As with many Italian wines, this will pair beautifully with food, espcially tomato based dishes and grilled meats.
Elisabetta Geppetti, the founder of Fattoria Le Pupille, is a woman of exceptional energy and vision. She was only 20 years old when she first took the reins at her family’s property in Southern Tuscany in the 1980s. The winery is synonymous with Morellino di Scansano and Elisabetta has been instrumental in placing this appellation on the map of wine lovers, producing excellent value Sangiovese and gaining global fame with the area’s first Super Tuscan, Saffredi.

This 100% Gamay from Domaine Moulin Camus comes from grapes grown on a slope of pure mica schist which gives the wine juicy, rounded red fruits a bit of tautness and minerality. A warmer than normal, sulphur free maceration for three days helps bring out some warmth and roundness to the fruit, making it slightly beaujolais'esque but without the bubble gum/commercial edge that one would normally find in this price range.
