Description
The 2019 Opposites Attract Episode 32, The Liberator is juicy and fruit led with touches of spice and an immediate drinkability, a great date night wine perhaps?
Another limited release from the intrepid ‘Liberator’ and this time he blends 71% Shiraz, 16% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc. Only 1000 cases were made of this Bordeaux meets the Rhone mash up, inspired by putting together two grapes which wouldn’t traditionally be blended, along with the ‘odd one out’ Cabernet Franc.

2019 morgon les charmes, chateau grange cochard
Gamay
Château Grange Cochard lies in the heart of the Morgon Appelation on granitic, shaly slopes and has been crafting classic wines from their superbly sited vineyards since the 18th Century. The 'Les Charmes' is one of the favoured 'lieu-dits' of Morgon and winemaking is traditional, with hand harvested fruit fermented carefully in the semi-carbonic maceration method with half being whole bunches and half de-stemmed fruit. Maturation is in a mixture of vat and cask and sulphur addition low.

2014 chateau saint-pierre, 4ieme cru classe st.julien
Bordeaux Blend
The 2014 vintage of this 'under the radar' Chateau is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. Chateau Saint-Pierre is the smallest classed growth in Saint Julien but has a growing reputation for producing excellent, deeply coloured reds. It is part of the Chateau Gloria stable and often eclipses it's more illustrious stablemate in blind tastings. Prices are creeping up as their reputation grows but these beautifully made wines still represent good value.

2015 amarone della valpolicella ‘terre san zeno’, corteforte
Corvina
A classic Amarone della Valpolicella, the Terre di San Zeno from Corteforte is a wonderfully decadent and sophisticated wine. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and the wine is then aged in steel for a further 24 - 36 months before ageing in large French oak and then smaller French oak barrels for 12 months in each. The wine is then bottled and released following an additional 12 month period in bottle. Although approachable when released, this tremendous Amarone will continue to develop in bottle for a good decade following release.
