The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, Bodegas Sottano is a lovely deep red/black colour that leads to a complex and inviting nose of coffee, dark fruits and hints of spice. The ripe, rounded palate has more generous dark fruits, well-integrated oak and soft, supple tannins on the finiah.
Bodegas Sottano is an impeccable family estate situated in the Pedriel district of Mendoza that is run and owned by the Sottano brothers Diego, Pablo and Mauricio. It sits at 1000m altitude in the foothills of the Andes so benefiting from the warm days and cold nights typical of the region, resulting in well-balanced and perfectly ripe grapes. The wines from this estate are rich and smooth yet maintain an elegance and balance not always present in new world wines.
Malbec still tends to get the lions share of attention when it comes to Argentinian reds which is a shame when it comes to wines such as this terrific Cabernet.
