Description
We were delighted to be offered a little library stock of older Pinot Gris from Moorooduc Estate. This is such a wonderful wine, showing great development and compexity. The exotic nose leads to a rich yet balanced palate that is dry and satisfying with a lovely balance of weight and texture. The balanced finish is long and tinged with citrus and green pear fruit.
Hand-harvested with whole bunch pressing, this delightful Pinot Gris is 100% barrel fermented in 2-3 year old French oak and then matured for 10 months on lees in the wood with 1 racking prior to bottling having been lightly fined and filtered. Established in 1982 by Richard and Jill McIntyre, Moorooduc is a small, family run wine business that has built an enviable reputation for complex and food friendly wines.
The philosophy here is to use top quality fruit that is produced by intensive, hands on work in the vineyard and minimal use of chemicals. The wines are then fermented using wild yeasts and minimal intervention to allow them to express the character of their individual sites. Moorooduc is rightly regarded as one of the leading lights in Mornington and one of the finest Pinot Noir producers in Australia.
