Description
The Domaine de Viaud is made with 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc from organically farmed vineyards sitting on sandy/gravelly soils. This mature claret was aged for 22 months in concrete tanks to preserve the wines natural character and is bottled without filtration.
The colour of this perfectly mature red is typically garnet with brick red tinges. The nose is appealing and inviting with subtle tobacco, dried fruits and earthy leather and spice. The silky palate shows developed tobacco, cedar and spice backed up by classic plum and blackcurrant fruit and graphite notes. Beautifully balanced on the finish, this lovely Lalande de Pomerol is drinking very well now but will continue to age gracefully in the medium term.
Domaine de Viaud, located in Lalande-de-Pomerol, covers 13 hectares of organically farmed vineyards (95% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc) on sandy and gravelly soils. The estate, founded in the 1940s by Marius Bielle, is known for producing exceptional Merlot-based wines. Lucette Bielle, Marius’s youngest daughter, took over the estate in 1982 and has been the driving force behind its renowned wines for decades. Lucette has been dedicated to traditional and sustainable practices, achieving AB and Biodyvin
