Lochlea ‘Our Barley’, Single Malt, Lochlea Distillery

Single Malt

We are delighted to be stockists of this wonderful whisky from family owned Lochlea Distillery.  This small Lowland distillery are meticulous about using their own barley and an exacting cut to produce a superb whisky which belies it's relative youth.  With no age statement whiskies becoming more prevalent, the emphasis tends to be on releasing whiskies when ready rather than at a set age.  This is one of the earlier releases from Lochlea and we are excited to see what the future holds for them.

Lochlea Cask Strength Single Malt Batch 1

Single Malt

This is the first cask strength release from the family-owned Lochlea distillery.  Using locally grown ingredients the whisky is distilled and aged on site in a mixture of 1st Fill Bourbon Barrels and 1st Fill Oloroso Sherry Butts.  It goes without saying that the whisky is non-chill filtered and the colour is natural.  The nose shows a complex mixture of fruit, cigar notes and roasted coffee beans which leads to a palate that is nicely fruited with hints of brazil nuts.  The finish is rich and oaky.

Lochlea Red Wine Cask 2026

The 2026 release of the Lochlea Red Wine cask is finished in Sangiovese casks, giving a rich, deep and velvety character to the whisky.  Red berry notes, baked apple and some warming spice from the oak complete a very satisfying dram.

Longrow Peated, Campbeltown Single Malt

Single Malt

The colour is a very light amber with slight olive highlights.  On the nose it is very creamy, vanilla custard. The smoke develops gradually, like a slow burning log fire, never overpowering but always reassuring. A guest taster was reminded of marshmallows toasted on a campfire, crisp on the outside and sticky sweet in the middle!The palate is incredibly well balanced, rich and creamy with a slight medicinal hint. The smoke is always present, washing over the palate in waves, like the soft billows of smoke from the kiln.To finish, gentle smoke lingers and lingers leaving you yearning for more!

Luis XIV Vermut Rojo, Fondillon

The fabulous Luis XIV Vermut Rojo is a blend of 70% young Vermut made from a base of Macabeo that has been macerated with traditional botanicals including wormwood and also a secret blend of cinnamon, cloves vanilla and orange peel.  This is blended with 30% Monastrell which has been aged oxidatively for 8 years, with a further two months in ancient Fondillon barrels.  The Monastrell gives the Vermut a wonderful garnet colour and adds richness to the wine.  Rich, with balanced notes of herbs and spice witha bit more body than other styles, this terrific Vermut is delicious with ice and a slice of orange peel.  It also comes in a quirky bottle which not only looks great but has stencilled writing that glows in the dark!

Menabrea is a beautifully crafted Italian blond lager style beer which is brewed slowly for maximum flavour and texture. This 4.8% ABV pale lager is well balanced between citrus, bitter tones and floral, fruity undertones giving a consistent and refined flavour. It has a complex malty and hoppy taste with an exceptional head retention.
