Description

Didier Gallimard owns 10 hectares of prime vineyards on the steep slopes around Les Riceys in the southern Aube. Didier’s son Arnaud has joined him, becoming the seventh generation, and the long-term future is now secure. Their vines’ average age is over 30 years and the dramatically sloping vineyards, which are of chalk and Kimmeridgian limestone, are planted mainly to Pinot Noir and just a little Chardonnay. Their wines are full and rich and offer enticing aromas and flavours of summer fruits.

The Cuvee de Reserve is extremely approachable and one of our best selling Champagnes.  Exuberant, rounded and almost dangerously easy drinking, it’s a widely appealing style that keeps customers coming back for more again and again.

NV Blanc de Blancs ‘La Signa-Terres’, Champagne Paul Lebrun

Chardonnay

The La Signa-Terres from Paul Lebrun shows an incredible butter-like creaminess alongside orchard fruits, citrus and almond aromas. Toasty, but with a soft palate thanks to the mild dosage and a creamy petillance which doesn't overpower the delicate texture and freshness. The finish is lengthy with hints of toast, zest and salted almonds.

NV Special Cuvee, Champagne Bollinger

Champagne Blend

There is no denying the class of Bollinger and their distinctive dry, full bodied style is world renowned.  60% Pinot Noir with 25% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Meunier, the wine contains a large amount of reserve wines, some of which is aged in magnum for between 5 & 15 years, developing complexity to add to the finished product.  Complex, lively and beautifully poised, this is one of the few Grand Marque Champagnes we stock as it's a staff favourite that never fails to disappoint.

Germar Breton Brut.JPG

NV Brut, Champagne Germar Breton, Aube

Champagne Blend

This delightful, and rather smart looking, Champagne comes from the relatively young Champagne House of Germar Breton that was established in 2005.  Based in the southerly Aube region, they make approachable, terrific value wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.  This wonderful introduction to their range shows expressive brioche, green apple and quince fruit and has wonderfully balanced acidity.  Germar Breton are certainly a Champagne House to keep an eye on.

NV Taittinger Les Folies de la Marquetterie

Champagne Blend

Deep yellow with golden highlights and fine, delicate bubbles. It has an intense, fruity bouquet with aromas of peaches, apricot jam and subtle hints of toasted brioche and vanilla. On the palate is it full-bodied, fruity and graceful with golden peach flavours. The long finish is distinctive with light toasty notes. All in all Folies de la Marquetterie is a full flavoured, harmonious Champagne distinguished by its immense richness and complexity. Besides being an ideal aperitif it is a perfect accompaniment to fish and chicken dishes.
