Description
The cracking Vernaccia di San Gimignano from Panizzi has a beautifully bright, light straw colour in the glass. The expressive nose is fragrant and fresh with delicate notes of spring flowers. The palate is fresh and fruit-driven with crisp green apple, pear, white peach and grapefruit intermingled with fine minerality and a slight bitterness to the finish, often typical of Vernaccia.
Panizzi were established in 1989 and work with 60 hectares of vines spread across four vineyard sites in the San Gimignano area; Lazzaretto, Santa Margherita, Montagnana, and Larniano. Sustainability is a principal focus for Panizzi. No pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers are used during the production of their wines and from the 2020 vintage onwards they are certified organic, even though they have farmed using organic practices for many years.
