Description

The Duckhorn Merlot a simply delicious blend of 76% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc.  Luxurious and enticing on the nose, the palate is sublimely balanced with plum, dark cherry and chocolate alongside hints of spice.  The silky tannins and depth of fruit added by the Cabernet give complexity and texture and keep one coming back for glass after glass.

This plush red is drinking beautifully now but will continue to provide immense drinking pleasure for at least 5-8 years from vintage, and perhaps longer.

2023 Gamay, Domaine Moulin Camus, IGP Loire

Gamay

This 100% Gamay from Domaine Moulin Camus comes from grapes grown on a slope of pure mica schist which gives the wine juicy, rounded red fruits a bit of tautness and minerality.  A warmer than normal, sulphur free maceration for three days helps bring out some warmth and roundness to the fruit, making it slightly beaujolais'esque but without the bubble gum/commercial edge that one would normally find in this price range.
