Description
The grapes for this approachable Puligny are hand harvested and undergo a gentle pressing. The juice is then left to settle for a few days then put into French oak barrels, 30% of which are new. Indigenous yeasts are used for fermentation and the wine spends 12 months in barrel before being blended and bottled. Great persistence in the mouth, this wine has a wonderful freshness to it and can be enjoyed in it’s youth.
Gaëlle and Jérôme Meunier are based in the village of Barizey, 5 miles from Mercurey. They also have parcels of vines on the Côte d’Or including some excellent parcels in Puligny-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet 1er cru Champ Gain. The wines are rich and easy going in style with great balance and depth of fruit, and represent excellent value for money.
