Description

The Sottano Judas Malbec is a powerful red wine with an intense deep red/black in the glass with violet hints.  The nose and palate are complex with plum, blueberry and dark cherry fruits, well-integrated oak and notes of vanilla, spice and tobacco.

Bodegas Sottano is an impeccable family estate situated in the Pedriel district of Mendoza that is run and owned by the Sottano brothers Diego, Pablo and Mauricio. It sits at 1000m altitude in the foothills of the Andes so benefiting from the warm days and cold nights typical of the region, resulting in well-balanced and perfectly ripe grapes. The wines from this estate are rich and smooth yet maintain an elegance and balance not always present in new world wines.

The Judas Malbec is the pinnacle of production at Sottano and we’re delighted to stock it in several formats (when available).  The wine spends 24 months in first use oak barrels, 70% French and 30% American, and is racked every 4 months.

2020 Chateau Saransot-Dupre, Listrac Medoc, Magnum

Bordeaux Blend

Chateau Saransot-Dupre is a favourably sited 17 hectares property that lies between Fourcas Dupré and Fourcas Hosten in Listrac.  Due to Listrac’s cooler temperatures, Merlot and Cabernet Franc are favoured over Cabernet Sauvignon to form the majority of the blend, helping them achieve optimum ripeness.  Much like Chateau Fourcas Hosten, the wines have improved year on year since 2010 and the property were put on the radar thanks to a certain Robert Parker hailing the 2010 vintage as 'classed growth quality'.  High praise indeed!

2024 Cotes Du Rhone, Un Bon Canon

Rhone Blend

The Un Bon Canon Cotes du Rhone hits the spot every time with it's fruit forward blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 5% Cinsault and 5% Mouvedre which is fermented in concrete tanks.  The vineyards lie in the southern part of the region on a dried up river bed strewn with heat retaining pebbles.  The hot summer sun ensures that the wine is bold and fruity with raspberry and dark fruits and hints of garrigue/herbal undergrowth.
