Description
The Niepoortland Tawny Dee sees around three and a half years in small barrels so is just starting to develop a brick red/tawny colour and has delicate nutty aromas and a hint of dried fruits on the nose. On the palate it is beautifully balanced with a youthful fruity, luscious character, which integrates well with a long spirity finish.
This is the baby of the Niepoort Port range and comes as a ‘twin’ with the ruby Dum, two wines hailing from the same vineyard but getting different treatment to produce the Ruby and Tawny styles.

The wine is drinking beautifully now, with great freshness and primary fruit in evidence, but it will also benefit from further cellaring for a couple of decades.

The palate is of quintessential Niepoort style: excellent structure, high acidity and a long finish which emphasises its delicate and refreshing character. This wine is reminiscent of an Auslese-style wine and is ideal as an end to a beautiful dinner after various wines and Ports have been enjoyed.

The 2017 Vintage Port, Eirados has plenty of rich and jammy fruit added to this wine making it enjoyable in it's youth but there are also some good, firm tannins suggesting that there is plenty of development to come. This is great value from a smaller Port House in an amazing vintage that has produced sublimely balanced, long loving wines.
