2021 Cartology, Alheit Vineyards, WO Western Cape

Chenin Blanc

The 2021 Cartology is made from 90% Chenin Blanc and 10% Semillon from old, dry farmed bush vines.  Following careful selection by hand the grapes are whole bunch pressed and lightly settled with no addititions to the natural juice.  Wild yeast fermentation takes pace in a mixture of concrete eggs, clay pots and old barrels of various sizes, lasting anywhere between 3 weeks and 11 months.  The wine is then aged on it' lees in tank for roughly 12 months with a further 6 months to settler in tank prior to bottling.

Tokara Reserve Chardonnay.JPG

2020 Tokara Reserve Chardonnay, Stellenbosch

Chardonnay

The Tokara Reserve Chardonnay has aromas of lemon curd, honeysuckle, oatmeal and toasted brioche which leap from the glass. There are plenty of bold, ripe yellow citrus fruit flavours initially on the palate, which lead to a creamy mid-palate with subtle vanilla, star anise and toasted almond. There is a continuous saline focus and feeling of freshness throughout. A wine of restrained power and finesse.

Tokara Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve.JPG

2020 Tokara Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Stellenbosch

Cabernet Sauvignon

The Tokara Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon wine displays a deep maroon colour with a vibrant edge. The nose leads with classic graphite notes, briary fruits interwoven with aromas of five spice and the faintest hint of dried porcini. There is a freshness underscoring these aromas with hints of dark cherry, red currant and fynbos scrub.  The palate is pleasantly full bodied, yet not overpowering, with flavours mirroring the aromas all leading to a multitextured finish.  Superb stuff from one of Stellenbosch's finest properties.
