Description
The delicious La Voja Pinot Noir is a pretty ruby red colour and has a serious mineral tinged nose with notes of spices, blueberries, strawberries and fine herbs. The palate is gentle and shows great poise with beautifully balanced fruit and nice freshness on the finish. The harvest is done by hand in boxes of 20 kg, with fermentation taking place with 10% whole bunches and 10% stems at a temperature of 25 to 28 degrees. The malolactic fermentation takes place in 100% French used barrels, with the wine resting in the same barrels for 9 months before being bottled.
Dominio de Freneza’s ambition is to bring the vineyard to the glass – producing true expressions of terroir through traditional winemaking methods. The winery uses hand-picking, partial de-stemming, whole bunch fermentation and only the gentlest pisonage and remontage. As Agustín says, ‘Our philosophy is that sometimes, less is enough.’

Red Blend
The Gonzo Combat Rouge is a rather unusual field blend of Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Viognier which are co-fermented with whole bunch fermentation. The results is a beautifully supple yet plush and ripe red wine with sweet, spicy raspberry and cherry fruit. We've found it drinks best slightly chilled on a warm evening.
