Description

The 12.5 hectare domaine has recently passed from father to son and the changing of the guard has brought a new philosophy to teh winemaking. Farming is done with respect for nature and follows the principles of organic farming. Yields are kept low through the use of cover crops and severe pruning and all the vines are harvested by hand, and only indigenous yeasts are used for the fermentation. Jérôme’s father sold all of his wine to the local cooperative but Jérôme is now estate bottling his entire production.

The grapes for this wine go through rigourous selection in the vineyard, ensuring only the healthiest bunches make it to the winery.  They are foot trodden to enable a delicate extraction and then fermented using indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged in oak for 10 months before bottling.  Charming and very approachable in it’s youth, this delightful Pinot is brimming with fresh red fruits, hints of tobacco and spice alongside refreshing acidity on the finish.  Delicious now but will continue to develop for a couple of years.

2020 Chateau Saransot Dupre, Cru Bourgeois Superieurlistrac

Bordeaux Blend

Chateau Saransot-Dupre is a favourably sited 17 hectares property that lies between Fourcas Dupré and Fourcas Hosten in Listrac.  Due to Listrac’s cooler temperatures, Merlot and Cabernet Franc are favoured over Cabernet Sauvignon to form the majority of the blend, helping them achieve optimum ripeness.  Much like Chateau Fourcas Hosten, the wines have improved year on year since 2010 and the property were put on the radar thanks to a certain Robert Parker hailing the 2010 vintage as 'classed growth quality'.  High praise indeed!
