The Lustau East India Solera recreates the effect of barrels of sherry that were used as ballast on ships crossing the oceans in the 17th century voyages. It was discovered that the barrels which crossed the seas and returned to european ports came back with more complexity and silkiness, and hence this style of fortified wine was born.
