My wife and I travelled from Hertfordshire to attend this tasting with a view to extending our knowledge of Greek wine, which we have been exploring and thoroughly enjoying for around three years now. I had purchased some very good Greek wines from Dorset Wine Company last year and was pleased to receive the invitation to their tasting series by email. We were very much looking forward to it but the event exceeded our expectations on every count. The selection of wines was perfectly designed to help tasters explore some of the myriad distinctive varietals that distinguish Greek wines from other countries’ and the familiarity of well-known international varietals. Jonathan was a judicious and thoroughly researched presenter, who imparted a wealth of useful information and appreciation in a highly engaging manner. The canapés created and served with each wine by Sally were delicious and perfectly judged to complement each wine presented. The tasting was wonderfully and generously crowned with Dorset Wine’s top white (a Santorini Assyrtiko) and red (a rare Central Greece Mouhtaro), both of which will clearly improve for quite a number of years. The tasting was kept moving at a very sensible pace and with input from Paul and Terry. On the strength of this event I highly commend Dorset Wine’s series of tastings and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with them.
