A 50/50 blend of Grenache and Syrah with a vine age of between 25 and 50 years. The wine is fermented in tank, then spends 12 months ageing in old barriques and foudre. With just 13% alcohol, it’s much fresher than the more elevated examples currently coming out of the region. As well as an abundance of red berry fruit there is a savoury complexity to the wine, making it a perfect accompaniment to food, in particular warming autumnal dishes.

2020 Chateau Saransot Dupre, Cru Bourgeois Superieurlistrac
Chateau Saransot-Dupre is a favourably sited 17 hectares property that lies between Fourcas Dupré and Fourcas Hosten in Listrac. Due to Listrac’s cooler temperatures, Merlot and Cabernet Franc are favoured over Cabernet Sauvignon to form the majority of the blend, helping them achieve optimum ripeness. Much like Chateau Fourcas Hosten, the wines have improved year on year since 2010 and the property were put on the radar thanks to a certain Robert Parker hailing the 2010 vintage as 'classed growth quality'. High praise indeed!
