2021/22 Cremant de Bourgogne Brut, Domaine Fournillon

Pinot Noir

Fournillon have 23 hectares of vines in Chablis in the cool, north of burgundy and are predominantly producers of classic, steely Chablis (see our fantastic value 'house' Chablis), but they also produce some red and this delicious cremant from 100% Pinot Noir.  All fruit is hand-harvested and vinified carefully to produce an easy drinking, fruit-forward fizz that is well balanced and nicely rounded with a fine mousse.  Excellent as an apertif.

2021/22 Puligny Montrachet, Domaine Meunier

Chardonnay

The grapes for this approachable Puligny are hand harvested and undergo a gentle pressing.  The juice is then left to settle for a few days then put into French oak barrels, 30% of which are new. Indigenous yeasts are used for fermentation and the wine spends 12 months in barrel before being blended and bottled.  Great persistence in the mouth, this wine has a wonderful freshness to it and can be enjoyed in it's youth.

The Cotes Du Rhone Blanc from Domaine Grand Veneur is a superb value white. It is a blend of Roussanne, Viognier and Clairette and been a regular feature of our list for several vintages thanks to it's wonderful balance of delicate floral aromatics, peach and stone fruit flavours and balanced fresh acidity.
