Description

The Bourgogne Pinot Noir Epineuil from Domaine Fournillon is a beautifully fresh Pinot with bright, red fruit flavours and supple tannins. This delightful red wine comes from parcels of vines in the village of Epineuil, with the majority of Pinot Noir grapes are harvested mechanically for efficiency so they can be transported to the estate for maceration in stainless steel tank for a period of 2 weeks, with regular punch downs. After separating the skins from the juice it is aged in stainless steel tanks for a minimum of 15 months.

2020 Morgon Les Charmes, Chateau Grange Cochard

Gamay

Château Grange Cochard lies in the heart of the Morgon Appelation on granitic, shaly slopes and has been crafting classic wines from their superbly sited vineyards since the 18th Century.   The 'Les Charmes' is one of the favoured 'lieu-dits' of Morgon and winemaking is traditional, with hand harvested fruit fermented carefully in the semi-carbonic maceration method with half being whole bunches and half de-stemmed fruit.  Maturation is in a mixture of vat and cask and sulphur addition low.

Gamay Noir Canaille.JPG

2021 Gamay ‘Canaille’, Domaine Roussely

Gamay

Vincent Roussely is the fourth generation of the family to make wines at this beautiful 8 hectare vineyard site in the heart of Chenonceaux on the Cher River. Since 2007 he has farmed his vineyards by hand machine and horse and as a result has seen the health of his vineyards and grapes improve immeasurably, which naturally has a direct influence on the wines he produces. The Cellar is underground, dug into a tuffeau tunnel underneath the vines, and have been used for vinification of wine for over 250 years. New inox fermentation tanks have been put in place located in carved out recesses in the soft stone. Ferments are spontaneous and naturally very slow. 100% Gamay, 50% of which is whole bunch ferment and 50% destemmed from the younger vineyards around the village of Ange, south of the Cher river. Natural ferments with malolactic fermentation taking  place in stainless steel and bottled the summer after harvest.  Delightfully approachable and a pure pleasure to drink, this is a true terroir wine with a sense of place and vitality which make it equally appealing to savour or simply drink.

O Font Les Deux Cols.JPG

2020 ‘O Font’ Les Deux Cols, Vin de France

Grenache Blend

Les Deux Cols is a joint venture between Ireland's leading Rhone importer, Simon Tyrell and Charles Derain, one time Sommelier to Alain Ducasse at Le Louis XV in Paris.  This Grenache Noir dominated blend is whole bunch and foot trodden, natural yeast fermented in concrete tanks and then matured in a mixture of old barriques and larger demi-muid barrels.  Pale in the glass, this is fresh and easy with red fruits and a hint of spice.  Hand harvesting takes place at least a week earlier than the neighbouring properties allowing for a fresher style, and all vineyards are either organic or in conversion with some biodynamic practices in use.

2020 Cabernet/Shiraz, Hartenberg, Stellenbosch

Cabernet Sauvignon

The Cabernet/Shiraz from Hartenberg has a lovely vivid purple/red colour, with ripe berry fruits on the nose and hints of forest floor entwined with sweet spice. The palate reveals plenty of vibrant red fruit courtesy of the Cabernet Sauvignon alongside typical black pepper spice from the Shiraz.  There's plenty of juicy, crunchy fruit, soft gentle tannins and a velvety, elegant finish.
