Description
Christoph and his brother Johannes have worked together since 2006 when they left their jobs to take over the family domaine in Saulheim, a little village inland from Oppenheim and the mighty Rhine. The vineyards lie on a mixture of light clay, limestone red sandy loam and in places flint and schist. All vineyard management is now undertaken organically with a move to biodynamic imminent.
“The period of over-oaked German Pinot Noir has been replaced with a more elegant, fresher style. Good value Pinots are hard to find, but this entry-level wine from Thörle is exceptional. It’s focused with refreshing raspberry and damson fruit, and grippy tannins are nicely balanced on a meaty palate”. Decanter Magazine

2021 Pinot Noir Rose, Villa Wolf, Pfalz, Magnum
Pinot Noir
In the northern Pfalz, in Wachenheim, on the edge of the Mittelhaardt, you will find our traditional winery, whose roots go back deep into the history of Palatinate viticulture. When Ernst Loosen took over the winery in 1996, it already had an eventful, almost 250-year history behind it. But it was the prospect of producing great, dry wines that attracted him to the Pfalz region.
