Description

The 2016 Riesling Trocken Binger Quarzit, Riffel is from the excellent 2016 vintage, showing wonderful aromas of lemongrass and kaffir lime leaf and a palate that reverberates with (quarzit) mineral intensity.

Binger Quarzit is a blend of Riffel’s premium sites, namely Kirchberg & Scharlachberg, which doubtless would be Grosses Gewachs (great growths or GG’s) under the next cycle of reclassification.

The Cramele Recas Estate, owned by englishman, Philip Cox and his Romanian wife Elvira, have put in a huge amount of work into transforming their sliceof grape growing history into a contemporary winemaking haven. The immaculate vineyards are a combination of evolved plantings from 1447 and much more recent plantings too.

Bordeaux Blend

A delicious, crisp, fresh white Bordeaux. The 2020 vintage was very warm and  has given this wine extra depth with classic green fruits being joined by some almost tropical notes, the whole is quite a weighty wine with subtle herbaceous notes. Great with fish, goats cheese, asparagus.

Carricante

The Nostru range from Azienda Agricola Cortese offer terrific value, expressive wines made with grapes more commonly associated with the slopes of Mount Etna.  The farming here is traditional and a nod to when organic production was a way of life rather than an informed decision.
