Description
Bodegas Martinez Lacuesta are one of the oldest names in Rioja, pre-dating the creation of Rioja as a designation itself. This Gran Reserva is a special release to mark the 125th Anniversary of the company.
Tempranillo with just a dash of Graciano and Mazuelo, aged for 36 months in new and semi-new American Oak barrels before receiving a further 36 months ageing under cork. The result is a delicate and silky smooth gran reserva, with sweet spices and toasty notes as well as dried cherries and dates.

2021 gamay ‘canaille’, domaine roussely
Gamay
Vincent Roussely is the fourth generation of the family to make wines at this beautiful 8 hectare vineyard site in the heart of Chenonceaux on the Cher River. Since 2007 he has farmed his vineyards by hand machine and horse and as a result has seen the health of his vineyards and grapes improve immeasurably, which naturally has a direct influence on the wines he produces. The Cellar is underground, dug into a tuffeau tunnel underneath the vines, and have been used for vinification of wine for over 250 years. New inox fermentation tanks have been put in place located in carved out recesses in the soft stone. Ferments are spontaneous and naturally very slow. 100% Gamay, 50% of which is whole bunch ferment and 50% destemmed from the younger vineyards around the village of Ange, south of the Cher river. Natural ferments with malolactic fermentation taking place in stainless steel and bottled the summer after harvest. Delightfully approachable and a pure pleasure to drink, this is a true terroir wine with a sense of place and vitality which make it equally appealing to savour or simply drink.

2015 amarone della valpolicella ‘terre san zeno’, corteforte
Corvina
A classic Amarone della Valpolicella, the Terre di San Zeno from Corteforte is a wonderfully decadent and sophisticated wine. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and the wine is then aged in steel for a further 24 - 36 months before ageing in large French oak and then smaller French oak barrels for 12 months in each. The wine is then bottled and released following an additional 12 month period in bottle. Although approachable when released, this tremendous Amarone will continue to develop in bottle for a good decade following release.
