Description

The aged Madeiras from this fine property are an utter delight and always offer a degree of complexity and elegance that puts them firmly in fine wine territory.  Bottled after 19 years in cask, this is complex and nutty with a fresh, zingy vein of acidity running through it, sharpening the richness of the fruit on the amazingly long finish.

The 2015 Late Bottled Vintage Eirados is a very approachable, traditional style of LBV (Late Bottled Vintage), with the hand picked grapes fermented in granite lagares before resting in stainless steel for 6 months prior to ageing in Portuguese oak casks for 3 years.

Douro Blend

A brick-red appearance with some light orange tinges leads into a fine slightly smokey aroma with hints of dried fruits. The palate is refreshing, with wonderful acidity and hints of dried apricots and crystallised fruit, leading to a lengthy mellow spirit driven finish.

Niepoort 2019 Vintage Port.JPG

2019 vintage port, niepoort, douro valley

Douro Blend

The 2019 Niepoort Vintage Port has a brilliant appearance with a dark purple rim and concentrated depth of colour. The aroma is fine and subdued with only a hint of primary dark fruits and some spice. The true potential and style of this wine really comes together on the palate with wonderful integration of dark fruits with a grainy tannic structure, pairing volume with amazing balance and elegance and an impressive finish. In conclusion, the primary fruit on the palate is appealing at this stage, but it’s the balanced tannic structure which indicates great ageing potential for the future.
