2012 grand millesime brut, champagne gosset, ay
Gosset is the oldest wine house in Champagne. It was founded in Aÿ in 1584 by Pierre Gosset an alderman and wine-grower who made mostly red wines. At that time the region’s still wines competed for pride of place on the best tables of France with the wines of Beaune which were made from the same grape varieties as they are today.

2013 noir de terroir extra brut, champagne levasseur
The Levasseur vineyards are organically farmed and certified for their high environmental value, and produce a mere 30,000 bottles per year. The Noir de Terroir is made with 100% Pinot Noir and shows distinctive Strawberry, redcurrant and Nectarine fruit on the nose. The complex palate is well-structured with a fine mousse and long finish. This is outstanding grower champagne and highlights what fantastic value you ccan get when you stray from the well-trodden path of the bigger houses.

Germar Breton are a relatively young Champagne House that started in 2005. Based in the southerly Aube region, they make approachable, terrific value wines solely from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, eschewing the use of Pinot Meunier as they believe that it brings a harshness ot the final wine.

The nose is complex with ripe gala apple and poached pear. Some floral notes of apple blossom and honey suckle. A seriousness here too, with wet beach pebbles and toasted granary bread. A well-integrated orchard fruit acidity. Confected apple, some creaminess and great texture. A lovely salinity and citrus balances well. Some light brioche and almond notes too.

2018 cremant de bourgogne brut, domaine fournillon
Fournillon have 23 hectares of vines in Chablis in the cool, north of burgundy and are predominantly producers of classic, steely Chablis (see our fantastic value 'house' Chablis), but they also produce some red and this delicious cremant from 100% Pinot Noir. All fruit is hand-harvested and vinified carefully to produce an easy drinking, fruit-forward fizz that is well balanced and nicely rounded with a fine mousse. Excellent as an apertif.

2019 pet nat ‘il pestifero’, bianco frizzante
Il Pestifero, the 'naughty boy' Pét-Nat, is part of Tavignano's 'I Love Monsters' line devoted to rediscovering older, traditional winemaking methods through modern technologies. The organic grapes are hand harvested with only the top quality selected, before primary vinification at a controlled temperature. The wine is bottled with residual sugar and undergoes a natural second fermentation in bottle for a period of two months. It is not disgorged or filtered.

The 2019 Riesling Sekt Trocken, Hanewald-Schwerdt is a steely lemon with red apple and peach underpinned by zesty lime acidity, resulting in a lovely refreshing style. The grapes for the Lete Vautrain Brut 204 are harvested by hand and sorted prior to fermentation at a cool temperature, and ageing on lees takes place for a minimum of 36 months. The wine shows a lovely deep golden hue in the glass with apple, peach and apricot fruit complemented by dried fruits and classic biscuity notes. A well balanced, complex and rounded Champagne that is the perfect aperitif style.
